6 questions to ask yourself before deciding to have a baby
So you are considering having a baby? Having a baby is a huge decision. One that shouldn't be made lightly. I've compiled a list of a few questions you should ponder in helping you decided if you are ready.
Do I like sleep?
Once you have a baby you can kiss any good sleep goodbye for quite a while.
How quickly can I pull something out of another person's mouth?
Kids put stuff into their mouths, all kinds of stuff. Usually it's gross and a choke hazard so you have to be ready at a moments notice to be able to fish those things out of there.
What is my spit-up and poop tolerance?
You're going to be seeing a lot of both of these bodily discharges over the next few years so I hope you aren't too squeamish.
How much do I like nice things?
Your kids are going to break all your stuff, especially all your nice, expensive or sentimental items. So try not to get too attached to your stuff.
How light do I like to travel?
You can't leave the house with a baby without carrying an extra 100 pounds of gear. Between the diapers, the stroller, the bottles, the snacks, the extra clothes and the other various gadgets you will feel like you need a moving van just to get to the grocery store.
Do I want to have my heart opened up to a whole new love?
The love you have for your child will be a whole new love that you've never experienced before. It will stretch your heart so wide it will almost hurt but it will hurt so good. You'll wonder how you ever made it this far without it.
This is by no means a comprehensive list of the only six things you should think about before planning to have a baby, but it's a start. Of course once you finally do decide to have a baby you'll come to your next great decision in life: "Do I want to start a blog about being a parent?"

Haha I loved this!! It had my split between laughing like mad and nodding in agreement! this is such a good list.
I chuckled all the way from 1-5 and then I let out a virtual Awww as I read the 6th...
What a beautiful tribute to the most important decision!
Thanks Lia. I added the last one because I felt I needed to end on a sweet note. Have good day.
It definitely worked!
Have a great day too!
Sounds like a good set of questions.
STRUGGLING to keep my nice things nice and my valuables intact! Love is thriving though.
haha I totally have had to get over my sick phobia. My girl pukes with a bad cough and it's vile!!! Loved the post. #brilliantblogposts xx
Ha ha I love that - do I like sleep - a good question and a very distant memory once you have kids, but when you actually have them getting up in the middle of the night is worse than the thought of it before they arrive! #brilliantblogposts
Very good - although I think you adapt. I was never great with sick and I am a pro now #brilliantblogposts
Brilliant! Absolutely agree with all your points, especially that last one. I never realised how much you can love a baby until I had my own. Every time I look at my children sleeping I have to choke back the tears. I just love them so much! Of course they are sleeping at the time, and not bickering, which they do from the moment they wake. :)
So true, each and every one of the above points! I never realized how much goes into a babies mouth and how much comes out! And sleep...that is a big one, and for the rest of your life you will never sleep as soundly as you did before children, even when they are adults!
Brilliant post, all so true!!
Hehe, great list! =D
lol.. this is great. I love the one on sick or poo?? Such a tough decision huh!
Loved this! Thanks for linking up x
Brilliant....we didn't ask ourselves this but sure do miss it now my two are 7 and 4! I do love my sleep so I'm happy hubby is an early bird and gets up with the kids at 6.30 every morning :)
The last one makes all the others completely tolerable, welcome and worth it. Where would we be without that love today? Good work.
We intentionally don't have nice things. It'll be a good 10 years before we buy new furniture! Great list.
Haha all so true! But they're worth every single moment x x
I love this post. So very true!! :-) #bigfatlinky
